New Models Painted

Hello Everyone! I have taken a break from painting for hire, and done a couple of things for me. I just finished working on some of my Necron Army.

First, I needed some Objective Markers. So I created 4, using some resin bases. Here are some pictures.

Then I got me a pair of crappy Tomb Spyders, and restored them to a fairly good state. The Particle Gauss Weapon and Claw are magnetized in both Spyders, and thus interchangeable. Here some pics.

I have not gone anywhere!

I have not posted here in a while... sorry about that! I have been busy... This time I have been working on a 2nd conversion Kit. This means I'm learning how to create molds and work with resin. So far... so good. Also, I have been busy updating the The Golden Bolter Society's website with all kind of goodies.

Speaking of goodies, some time ago I found a template to build a paper Necron Monolith. It was very interesting, so I started looking for more templates. It took me awhile, and thank the Emperor I'm bilingual because most of the stuff I found in website & forums from Spain. I found over 100MB of templates, so you can build models to your heart content!

I published an article in my club's website,
The Golden Bolter Society, regarding PaperHammmer 40k. This article has lots of cool info about what is, how it evolved and what has become PaperHammer 40k. It includes all the Templates I have found!

Please visit the site, enjoy the article and download all the templates you want (hopefully all of them!) Also there are several nice articles I wrote/compiled like 'Demystifying Paint Brushes' and our famous 'Worst WH40k Player EVER!" Our club is about the hobby, the game and the camaraderie. We may not have a store to play in 140 miles, but we try very hard!

If you have any comments about any of the article or the site, feel free to either email our Servitor or post them here. My 1st PaperHammer project will be a Necron Pylon... so stay tuned (1st I have to finish the kits I'm working on!) Will write soon...

Chaplain & Death Company

Nope... I had not forgoten my blog. I've been busy AND sick. Include sick of beign busy! Hehehe... anyhow, I finished the Death Company and Chaplain I was planing to do. They are magnetized, so you could change backpacks AND jump-packs. Definetly, the practice is making me improve the speed somewhat. :P

Go check my web album for pictures. The Squads are painted at Above Table Quality, and the Chaplain at Display Quality.

Captain Khal, Blood Angels Honor Guard

Wow... it has been some time since I posted. I have been busy with the Club site, The Golden Bolter Society, The Gauss Weapon Conversion Kit for 40k Models and other stuff. I finished converting and painting Brother Captain Khal, Blood Angels Honor Guard.

This is ONE model... magnetized with 3 packs and 4 weapons. The paint scheme came out VERY nice, and the details are superb. Go check my web album for plenty of pictures... here are some for your enjoyment.

New Eldar Models Painted

Hey!!! I have been busy painting... I just finished some of the Eldars I bought here in WGM. I have other Eldar inventory, 1/2 finished. :) Like always... check my web album!

On other news, I have been working with that Blood Angels Honor Guard, Captain Khalo! It is all finished, with the exceptions of the backpacks. It has four magnetized interchangable arms (2 right, 2 left) with Power Sword, Plasma Pistol, Power Fist & Bolt Pistol. I painted him following the Blood Angels Codex expesifications, and it looks superb!

For his backpack, I will have 3 magnetized options. The firstis the old-school (rogue-trader) backpack with banner. The 2nd is a Jump Pack, so he can be used as an assault marine. The 3rd is a slight conversion of a Dark Angels backpack. I like the one that has the single skull in the back, since the Black Skull is the symbol of the Honor Guard.

Will post pics when I'm done with it.

Paying for a Good Time...

Yesterday I went to play Warhammer 40k with my group. I traveled 20 miles to the 'Hamster House'... it was my 1st time there. Hamster, our gracious host, has a very nice setup. His garage can be transformed into a workshop/store/gaming area. We got to see his multiple works in progress and marveled at his terrain. I played a 1,670 game to accomodate a friend that is learning. David got his Grey Knights, I got my Necrons. The game was long, as I was helping my friend review the rules, but it was fun. I got creamed by turn 5! We picked up the stuff and chat a bit. Then I left home, happy of a good gaming session.

As soon as I got in the highway I noticed a strange sound... I just got a flat tire! I managed to get out off the next exit. Got the spare out... and noticed that the tools (including the nut-lock key) were nowhere to be found! I called David, who happened to live near that exit. He came to my rescue and he gave me a ride to a gas station. The plan was to buy a 'fix-a-flat' for a temp repair job, go home and deal with it on the next morning. When we got back to the car, thanks to the SUV's lights, I saw the tire was shreeded on the inside! AGHHH!

I thanked my friend and OKed him to go home (... consider him even out from giving me a humiliating defeat!) and called the road assistance, to have someone come and change the tire. I was informed I had to be towed! WFT?!? One would imagine they would have keys for those evil lug-nuts locks, but... NOOOO! It was ~40 degrees, so I was cold, hungry and I needed to take a leak. I hold it like a man... After 45 mins, the truck arrived and got me home. I got back at 11:30pm.

Now, I need to FIND/BUY a tire nut-lock key for a Nissan Altima. UFF! So the ordeal becomes more complicated and expensive. I would have to wait until Monday to fix this thing. I will take all the locks out of all tires and buy 4 more bolts to replace. Then I have to buy a NEW tire. To make matters worse... I think I have a 2nd flat!

See? If you have a good time, you are going to pay for it eventually!

Broke the blog... again!

Whoo-hoo! Apparently I have a super ability to break blogs! HA! This time I'm trying to add the ClusterMaps application in the 'profile' section. I added one of the codes, and the blog became unreadable... hehehehe.... the worse part is that I could no longer edit that! I created a Test Blog, so I could find the direct edit URL (http://www.wargamesmarket.com/blogsedit.php?editblog=2).

I fixed the blog... but now I can not delete the Test Blog... no button to do so!

Upcoming Projects

40mm Necron Objective Marker

The guys at the gaming group liked the Chaos Objectives! They are going to the Necronomicon (big independent 40k Tournament in Orlando FL), and they are required to bring two 40mm base 'army themed' objectives. So I will create a 2nd objective. This time for another guy (they both host games at their home, so I do them in gratitude for their efforts), who will bring a Necron Army. His colors are a little unusual for necrons... but he is pulling them off!

The idea for the piece is to have typical Necron Crystals in one corner, and a Space Marine that touched it... and paid the price! I will put some SM legs on the floor, but at mid torso change it to a skeleton. The Necronic crystal would had desintegrate the Adamatium armor and the organic flesh. Lets see if it can be done.

Magnetized Blood Angels Sgt

This models will have magnets in both arms sockets, so you can change weapons to fit your need. Weapons to be included: Power Fist, Power Sword, Bolt Pistol & Plasma Gun. So far the conversion is almost completed. Will post pics whenever I finish. Stay tuned. I will offer one of the local 40k group's players to see if he wants to buy the model... if not, it will be in for sale in WGM. I may even do two of them.

Ultra Marines Dreadnough

This will be a regular (old school) Smurf Mechanized Coffin... this will be purely for sale in WGM. I need to get me a dremel tool... things to fix!

New project List

Hmmm... the small Chaos Objective is done. Pretty nice. Once I take pics, I will post. The other, stil a Work In Progress (WIP). I'm playing with snow effects and my 1st paint of Lava. I wanna get it down, so I can paint an Eldar Avatar. It came out pretty good, but it was VERY labor intensive. Time for me to look for a tutorial.

Also, for my next project I'm thinking on doing a couple of Veteran Seargents... magentized. Lets see how that will come up. Will keep you posted.

Next Project: DA Vindicator

I'm working on a (weird) assemply from a friend of mine of a Dark Angels Vindicator he had 'lost' in a closet. 'Lost'... yeah right! I fixed most of it, but there is 1 plate I can't remove and re-attached. I'm painting it and puting it on sale. I better hurry, so it goes with the DA Whirlwind, which I beleive it has people interested.

Once I have pics, I will post!

Based on that past experience, I have decided to advertise in some forums. Nothing major, just a clean post with my auctions in WGM. So far I have driven some visitors. Hopefully the auctions start picking up in few days... near the end.

Easier way to use pictures in your Blog

I was not happy with the way to use pictures on the blog yet, so I tweaked a little more. Here is a NEW TUTORIAL on how to get pictures in your blog... purty!

Here is a tutorial on how to add images. The HTML Code from Photbucket to insert pictures may break the log, depending on the photo size. The best way to put the pictures is to copy the HTML Code and edit it. Here are the instructions on how to insert the images correctly.

  1. Please remember that {bracket} equals <
  2. Please remember that {end bracket} equals>
  3. Create text as normal.
  4. Where you want the picture enter the whole HTML CODE from Photbucket:

    {bracket}a href="HTTP ADDRESS" target="_blank">Photobucket

  5. The HTTP WEB ADDRESS is the web location where you have your picture stored (i.e. Photobucket, Image Shack, etc.)
  6. Now clean the code to be only the image itself.

    {bracket}img src="HTTP ADDRESS" border="0" alt="Photobucket">

  7. Now, force a change in size.

    {bracket}img src="HTTP ADDRESS" border="0" width="600" height="400" alt="Photobucket">

  8. You will see the CODE in your text; don't worry... it will go away!
  9. Submit as normal. You should be able to see the text AND the image.
  10. If you need to see any correction, you will see the image in your editing screen.
Hope this helps!

Inserting Pics on the Blog... what a pain!

REVISED: Found an easier way that doesn't break the Blog!

OK, inserting images in the blog is a pain! I have broken the blog 6 times today! Thanks to the Emperor's Light, I have some rusty HTML knowledge still on the Servo-Skull.

Here is a tutorial on how to add images. The HTML Code from Photbucket to insert pictures actually breaks the blog! You have to use the Direct Link, with the HTML code described below. Here are the instructions on how to insert the images correctly.

  1. Please remember that {bracket} equals <
  2. Please remember that {end bracket} equals>
  3. Create text as normal.
  4. Where you want the picture enter the following CODE:

    {bracket}p style="text-align: center" align="center"{end bracket}{bracket}img src="HTTP WEB ADDRESS" border="0" width="427" height="306" /{end bracket}{bracket}/p{end bracket}

  5. The HTTP WEB ADDRESS is the web location where you have your picture stored (i.e. Photobucket, Image Shack, etc.) Remember to take the Direct Link and not the HTML Code!
  6. You will see the CODE in your text; don't worry... it will go away!
  7. Submit as normal. You should be able to see the text AND the image.
  8. If you need to see any correction, you will see the image in your editing screen.

Pocket Genestealers Revealed!!!

I'm proud to (finally) share some pics of my 1st conversions... Hive Fleet Marchosias' Pocket Genestealers (Corporaptor crumens). I did those in the summer of 2006, for a Kill-Team campaign.

Pocket Genestealers (Corporaptor crumens)

Their complete background story is on the general board at the Tyranid Hive. There are LOTS of high resolution pictures at my web album, especially those comparing them to regular Genestealers! Comments and criticisms are very welcomed! Cool

Finished some models to sell!

Yeah baby! Finally I got time to finish some of the stuff I have been working on; an ‘Eldar Support Weapon Platform' and a 'Ultra Marine Land Speeder Typhoon'. Both models came out nicely. Go check my web album. There you could see some of the stuff I have done (and sold) since November, 2007.

As an Interesting note, the guy in Canada that bought the Eldar Swooping Hawk Exarch... yes the one in my web album... maybe interested in buying the Platform. I have been keeping in touch with him by email, so as an added bonus he may stop by WGM to purchase it. YEAH! Spread the Word...

Ebay continues to treat me like an idiot…

Well, on Saturday I closed my eBay Store! They ‘suggest' that I took a survey… what a crock of …! Fine… I took the survey. In the comments I told them how displeased I was about the new Feedback and Pricing Policies. Especially, since they punish severely the sellers, specially the little guys. I was polite, and even pointed to several sites that have managed to verbalize my feelings (properly) including the math behind it and specific cases.

To my surprise I received the following email from eBay:

eBay Customer Support to me

show details Feb 2 (2 days ago)

Dear Edwin,

Thank you for writing eBay in regard to your being upset about eBay's
recently announced changes, and your question about the Store fee you
paid in advance for the month of February.

Please be assured that since you cancelled your Store at the beginning
of the month, on your next invoice you will see a prorated credit for
the time the store was not open. In other words, you are only charged
for the amount of time the store is open.

Please understand, we are not making these changes to be punitive to
sellers or to favor buyers over sellers.

Change is a difficult thing for any of us to accept. But the more I
read about, learn and understand the new policies, the more I am
convinced that I can still succeed as a successful seller.

I encourage you to also learn more and see if you can adapt to the
changes that are coming.

Thank you for using eBay for your online trading needs.

Sincerely,
James W.

eBay Customer Support

How idiotic think I'm? They ‘encourage' me to learn more about this? I just want to kill them! Before you ask... yes, I replied to them I wonder why they have not emailed me back?
